President

The MECUDA-USA Executive (MN - JULY 2010)
Welcome to the website of MECUDA-USA, the Meta' Cultural Development Association, USA Branch. MECUDA, is an association with several branches all over the world. The MECUDA Branch in the United States of America is a non-profit organization with a 501(C) Status for charitable engagements. MECUDA-USA seeks to enhance integral development, among the Meta' people living in the Meta' Clan, as well as in different parts of the world. MECUDA also seeks to safeguard the cultural heritage of its people, everywhere, as a means of preserving worthy traditional values that highlight and affirm the Meta' identity. Above all, MECUDA USA is aware that meaning success in promoting the social, educational and cultural well-being of the Meta' people is achievable through partnership with the various branches as well as the friends of Meta' people.

The Meta' clan (aka Menemo) is located in the North West Region of the West Central African Country of Cameroon. The Meta' people (Budmita') have a rich and interesting history with a Semi-Bantu language whose origin is traceable to the Benue-Congo subfamily of the Niger-Congo Phylum. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Semi-Bantu). As we continue to develop this website you will be able to know more about Budmita', their history, their dynamic engagements, as well as their goals and aspirations.

For those of you who will visit our website, for charitable purposes, we can assure you that your donation will be put into effective use, with accountability – and we thank you, in advance, for your support. For those of you who will visit our clan, for touristic and/or other purposes, we also promise you that you will enjoy the rich and cultural heritage of the friendly and hospitable Meta' people.

Over the years, MECUDA has been privileged to work in partnership with benevolent individuals, domestic and foreign partners, including NGOs and Governmental Organizations, as well as other charitable organizations, to enhance its vision for quality health, sustainable development, integral education, with special emphasis on the education of the girl child, the eradication of poverty, the empowerment of rural women as well as the preservation of culture and basic human rights.

Our profound gratitude goes to all those who have shown and continued to show support to our efforts in improving the lives of Budmita'. To you all we say: MIYAKA!

One of our great proverbs states that "The river lost its way (meandered) because it travelled alone." A significant lesson from the Meta' migratory history always reminds the Meta' people that working in partnership yields significant achievements than "walking alone". Partnership, we believe, is the right way, because "Unity is strength" Ifoti ayi ikah.

Please be our guest, any time; and welcome, again, to the MECUDA website.
